Actress Lucy Davis has shared sad news about her health with her followers on social media. The 53-year-old star announced that she was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer a year and a half ago. She explained that the illness is incurable and has spread to her spine, right hip, and ribs.

Davis is best known for her role as receptionist Dawn Tinsley in the famous British comedy series The Office. The actress explained that she decided to share her health update publicly after keeping it private for some time. She hopes her story will encourage other people to pay close attention to their bodies and get medical checks regularly.

In a post shared on Instagram, Davis described how she first found out about her condition. She noted that she found a small hard spot that did not feel like a normal lump, but she almost ignored it before going to the doctor.

“A year-and-a-half ago I was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer, which has metastasized [spread] to my bones. Specifically to my spine, right hip and my ribs. The cancer is incurable, and too late for chemo.”

She urged her followers not to ignore any small changes in their bodies, no matter how tiny they might seem. She encouraged everyone to get medical advice as soon as possible if they notice anything unusual.

“The initial lump that I felt, wasn’t a ‘lump’ as such; rather a kind of hard spot. Really tiny. I almost didn’t bother getting it checked. So I guess I’m saying don’t ignore anything – get everything checked out.”

Despite the difficult diagnosis, Davis shared that she is at peace with her condition. She explained that she wants to focus on finding joy in her life and learning from every experience.

“As of now, I’m trying to live out whatever might be left of my life in as fun a way as I possibly can. I always like to find the teachable moments in anything negative that happens. And cancer has not disappointed in that regard; there’s a lot I have learned from it, and I’m grateful for that.”

“I’m not scared of whatever comes next. I’m at peace with it. I’ll see my Gracie sooner than expected, and for me, leaving my physical body just means going home. Any and all grieving is for my family; it’s far harder for them than for me.”

Lucy Davis built a successful acting career over two decades. She first gained wide attention for her work in the hit British sitcom The Office. After her success on television, she appeared in the popular horror-comedy movie Shaun of the Dead.

She later moved to major Hollywood projects, playing the character Etta Candy in the superhero film Wonder Woman. She also played Aunt Hilda in the hit supernatural series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

Many movie fans who follow classic television will recall news like Ben Jones passing away at 84 when thinking about beloved screen stars. News like this also reminds fans of how open public figures have become, similar to Brad Pitt sharing updates about his personal life with the public.

Plans to Keep Working and Supporting Causes

Davis made it clear that she still wants to continue acting as long as she can. She expressed that she feels capable of working and wants to stay busy with new projects.

In addition to acting, she plans to keep supporting animal rights causes, which she described as deeply important to her. Her fans and fellow actors continue to send messages of love and support to her online.
