The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has finally set a date to address the legal battle over the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner.
After weeks of rumors, CAS confirmed the hearing will take place on October 8.
The case centers on an appeal by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF). Senegal is challenging a major ruling made by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
Previously, CAF decided that Senegal forfeited the competition. Because of this ruling, Morocco was officially declared the 2025 AFCON champions.
Senegal is now asking the court to overturn that decision.
The legal process will not be rushed. According to CAS, none of the groups involved agreed to speed up the case. Instead of a fast-track process, the appeal is moving forward on a normal timeline.
The October 8 hearing will be strictly private. Only the parties involved and the judges will be allowed inside the room.
Once the hearing ends, the CAS panel will take time to review the details before making a final choice. The court has not yet announced when it will release this final verdict.
