The search for the next James Bond is full of rumors and talk. TV presenter Richard Osman has now shared a new name. He says a Scottish actor named Jack Lowden is under serious thought for the famous role.
Osman spoke about the news on his podcast called The Rest Is Entertainment. He told co-host Marina Hyde that someone recently gave him the news about the movie role.
Richard Osman explained what he heard on the show:
“Someone told me for definite who the new Bond is the other day, but I mean that’s happened before.”
He then named the actor who is being talked about behind closed doors:
“The name I’ve heard is Jack Lowden.”
Osman made it clear that nothing is official yet. However, he believes the actor has the right look and feel for the famous secret agent role.
“It is definitively not a ‘he’s definitely got it’ thing. He is definitely being strongly considered. I think he’d be amazing.”
Osman added more praise for the actor during the talk:
“I think Jack Lowden would be an incredible Bond. He’s got real Daniel Craig energy.”
Who is Jack Lowden?
Jack Lowden is a 36-year-old actor born in Scotland. Marina Hyde said that 36 is a good age to start playing James Bond. Lowden is best known for his work in television and movies over the past few years.
He plays the lead role of River Cartwright in the hit show Slow Horses. Many fans know his face from this secret agent drama show.
Lowden also acted in the big war movie Dunkirk, which came out in 2017. He showed his skills in playing intense characters in major films.
He also had a big role in the movie Mary Queen of Scots in 2018. Later this year, he will appear in a new adaptation of Pride and Prejudice on Netflix.
A big connection helps Lowden’s chances. Casting director Nina Gold is leading the search for the next Bond. Gold also worked on Slow Horses, where she knows Lowden’s acting work very well.

Director Denis Villeneuve will direct the next Bond movie. Studio leaders at Amazon MGM Studios want to bring the movie out in 2028. An official name for the new actor could come by the end of this year.
Bond producer Amy Pascal stated that the selection process takes time because replacing Daniel Craig is not easy.
“We are being really, really methodical. Having worked with Barbara Broccoli at the studio, I mean, Daniel Craig is a hard act to follow.”
The studio wants to make sure the next movie brings fresh ideas to the long-running series while keeping the heart of the character alive.
