After leaving the Los Angeles Lakers, James is ready for a new challenge. His agent, Rich Paul, told ESPN that James agreed to a two-year contract worth $8 million.

James is already a four-time NBA champion. He won titles with the Miami Heat, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Lakers. Now, he wants to bring that same winning magic to Philadelphia.

“I believe I can help make the Philadelphia 76ers a championship team,” James shared on X. He added that he is very excited to play for a new fan base and start this journey one last time.

The 76ers are building a powerful roster. James will join star players like Joel Embiid, Tyrese Maxey, and VJ Edgecombe. Philadelphia also recently traded for forward Jaylen Brown from Boston.

Last season, James scored an average of 20.9 points per game for the Lakers. When the season ended, he seriously thought about retiring after 23 years in the league.

“I thought I was done when the season ended,” James wrote on X. He explained that he needed a break to decide if he still loved playing the game.

For weeks, fans guessed where he would sign. People wondered if he would return home to Cleveland, go back to Miami, or team up with Stephen Curry at Golden State.

Ultimately, James chose Philadelphia. He made it clear that this final decision was about winning, not money.

“I still want to work. I still want to grind,” James posted. He stated that his main goal is to compete and feel the joy of winning another championship.

Before closing his announcement, the superstar took a moment to thank his past teams. He shared his endless love for Los Angeles, Miami, and his hometown in Ohio.
